Jennifer Lopez is very close to a sale. Her home in the upscale Ashley Ridge section of Hidden Hills is, barring contingencies, ready to trade owners.

The house—constructed in 1987—is designed in the style known as ‘traditional,’ which in this case indicates a bit of Colonial Revival, with a plain, gabled roof, although any degree of symmetrical patterning is broken by the continuing formal development as the house sprawls into wings. The center of the home is a protected courtyard accessed through a gateway terminus from the cobblestone driveway.

Space is paramount, as indicated immediately in the double-height foyer. At 17,129 square feet, the home is not a case study in design introversion, but the interior is mainly quite tasteful, coming off as merely an extended vision of an East Coast country home. Aside, perhaps, from the unabashed luxury of the screening room. Or the two bars, a 1920’s influenced whitewashed affair in the family room, and a mahogany club-style lounge in the entertainment wing. But, at its most extravagant, it remains fairly understated.

Colors are generally neutral—white, off-white, blanched grey and blanched peach—with occasional forays into darker earth tones, mainly in hardwood floors or coffered ceilings. Windows blaze nearly every room alight, aside from the kitchen, which, though daylight-illuminated, feels a bit more enclosed. The master suite is really very appealing, with sitting area and fireplace, and a bathroom that is far from formal, and comfortable. A terrace extends from the master bedroom.

The property exterior measures at three acres, and includes park-like landscaped grounds with lawns, outdoor patio and pool/spa areas, and tennis court. It was initially listed in 2015 at $17 million. It was listed most recently at $12.5 million, and was purchased by Ms. Lopez and former husband Marc Anthony in 2010, for $8.2 million.
