McLaren and its Special Operations division (MSO) has unveiled a lighter, quicker and much more exclusive version of its popular and sold out 675LT Spider model called the Carbon Series LT.
The difference in the Carbon Series vs the 675LT lies in the name of the new model, which is crafted using body panels, bumpers, mirror caps, air scoops, and even an engine compartment made of exposed carbon fiber.
While MSO hasn’t divulged the weight of the Carbon Series LT, it did say that it has used 40 percent more carbon fiber than was utilized in the 675LT Spider, which was already one of the lightest supercars available with a weight of only 2,800 pounds.
Powering the Carbon Series LT is the same turbocharged, 3.8-liter V8 engine that pumps out 666 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque that is found in the 675 LT Spider. The new specially made supercar can reach speeds up to 203 mph and burst to 60 mph from a standstill in 2.9 seconds.
MSO is only building 25 examples of the Carbon Series LT, with the first units reaching customers before the turn of the year. Pricing info wasn’t released, but it is of little matter considering the whole production run has already been sold off.
