Leonardo DiCaprio has passed ownership of his 1930’s ranch in Studio City to an unnamed buyer. The property sold for a little over $2.2 million; it was listed at $2.39 million, and was on the market for a little over a month.
The unassuming, 3,407 square foot Colfax Meadows home dates from the 1930’s, and features the open feel of a ranch of the period, with a bit of California-style influence in its overall design. Step-arches lend a sense of motion and space to thresholds and living room ceiling. Multiple fireplaces give the house cozy appeal.
There are a total of four bedrooms and three baths. The master bedroom boasts a gentle vaulted ceiling, with a fairly large, bright bathroom. The kitchen and dining area boasts herringbone floors, natural-toned exposed beams and recessed lighting. The flooring in the living spaces appears to be original, narrow-plank hardwood.
The .33 acre property features a vine-covered trellis over a large brick patio leading to a nicely-sized pool. The rear of the home is glass-heavy, looking out onto the pool and backyard. A long brick walkway begins with another vine-covered trellis, and invites entry into the little arched foyer. All in all, a very pleasant little home which is rapidly approaching historic.
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most successful actors of his generation. He took his first major role in 1993’s ‘This Boy’s Life,’ an adaptation of the Tobias Wolff’s beautifully written, bestselling childhood memoir; the film placed him in good company, with Ellen Barkin, Robert De Niro and Chris Cooper filling the roster. Roles then tumbled, culminating in the Oscar-winning and career-making ‘Titanic’ in 1997. 2002’s ‘Gangs of New York’ marked a first collaboration with Martin Scorsese; DiCaprio has also worked with directors Lasse Halstrom, Steven Spielberg, and Sam Mendes, among others.
