It’s difficult, one would imagine, negotiating the high visibility of a successful music career; the need for anonymity, and safety, has caused one of the most talented of contemporary singer-songwriters to actually sell her home. Rihanna purchased this bright, boxy modernist four years ago. Now the girl with the knockout voice has sold it at a loss.
The house has an imposing façade, which opens to a breathtakingly wide expanse containing seven bedrooms and nine baths. At 11,000 square feet, it features a split staircase, flowing concept, and abundant glass. The master suite and living area are a little self-consciously palatial, but spacious. Dark hardwood nicely contrasts the bright sensibility of the design. Janus-faced fireplaces divide bedroom and sitting area in the master suite, and kitchen and dining area. The entertainment room features lounge and bar.
Glass partitions may be opened for a breezy look and feel. The exterior is a little bit unintentionally industrial, but striking nonetheless. A pool with water-jets rests between the house and a spa and outdoor lounge. There is a rooftop deck.
Before purchasing the Pacific Palisades property, Rihanna had another bit of bad luck with a 2009 Beverly Hills home that featured an eco-friendly self-washing interior. She sold that house in 2012 for a nearly $2 million loss. Third time’s a charm, though.
Rihanna is a wildly talented and successful recording artist, with a net worth estimated in the neighborhood of $160 million, making her one of the bestselling recording artists of all time. Not bad for around thirteen years in the business.
