Produced David Broome has listed this Calabasas house, a onetime rental of Britney Spears.

A chateau style design with Spanish sympathies, the home—known as Chateau Suenos—is a beautiful homage to the solidity of European country estates. A lantern portal opens onto a stone court, with a substantial portico leading to the French-style double entrance, establishing themes expanded on beyond a large hardwood-floored foyer.

Boasting 10,600 square feet, the house features seven bedrooms and seven baths, with a master suite with dressing room and sauna. The home is designed around a courtyard with limestone fountain and fireplace, the home’s most interesting pretension; second-floor balconies peer down to a lantern-illuminated stone floor.

There is a great deal of dark wood and wrought iron, retaining the home’s particular Southern Californian illusion of eighteenth-century rustic living. A paneled alcove library opens onto a circular second-floor balustrade, office, and wet bar. The home also features a home theater, great room and dining room divided by Janus-faced fireplace, and climate-controlled wine cellar with humidor. There is an elevator, and a twin staircase.

The home features an underground garage with two hydraulic vehicle lifts. The exterior of the house features a well-ordered stone pool and spa area crowning around an acre of land. Broome has set the asking price at a shade under $9.5 million. He purchased the home several years ago for $5.4 million.

David Broome is executive producer on the competition reality program ‘The Biggest Loser.’ His other credits include ‘Shedding for the Wedding.’
