BMW has had a long-standing relationship with the Art Basel event in Miami, creating bespoke Art Cars in conjunction with artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, David Hockney, Robert Rauschenberg, and Frank Stella.

This year’s BMW Art Car, #19, was created by contemporary master John Baldessari and was recently revealed at the 2016 Art Basel.

The Southern California-based, 85-year-old artist added simple nods to the Art Car #19, such as his signature red dot on the roof, the word “fast” on the driver’s door, and splashes of primary colors in circle patterns.

Baldessari’s Art Car started off as a white M6 GT3 and will be driven by BMW’s Bill Auberlan at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this upcoming January. The special car will also feature in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
