Ricky Martin’s new Beverly Crest home is a Gregory Ain.
Initially listed for $16.9 million over the summer, the asking had come down to $13.8 million. Martin and the buyer agreed to $13.5 mil. It was constructed in 1953 and is one of the last works of renowned architect Ain.
The house is very much in the modern idiom: open and bright, with linear meeting linear in an expression of analytical matrix. The house is also very warm for a modern, exuding Ain’s desire for social elevation. Invitation abounds in its transparent face and broad entrance.
It’s quite large: seven beds and 8.5 baths in 11,300 square feet of living space. The master suite is very much a private retreat, and features an open fireplace dividing bedroom from sitting area; the master bath boasts a large soaking tub with water feature. There is a bar in the living room, and a five-person counter at the kitchen island for easy socializing. A private deck, and meditative garden terrace are nestled in the floor plan. Lighted outdoor staircases lend the property a sense of romance and a taste of mid-century avant-garde. The patio with infinity pool is located prominently. There is more than a little Eastern influence in the overall design.
Ricky Martin is set to begin a residency at the Park Theater in the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas. He recently sold a condominium in the Upper East Side, and appears poised to set up permanent residence on the West Coast.
