Joe Lacob, the figurehead of the investment group that purchased the Golden State Warriors about five years ago, is selling his home in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. Compared to the $450 million purchase price for the Warriors, the $7 million asking price actually seems quite reasonable.

The 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath home is designed with a traditional Hawaiian dwelling in mind, but features a contemporary Japanese garden aesthetic, with a compartmentalized design, lots of clean, plain, intersecting lines, quiet water feature incorporated into the floor plan, koi pond, sculpted greenery and wood tones, and—taking advantage of the ideal Hawaiian climate—an overall sense of open flow between inside and out.

The amenities are, in keeping, generally evocative of the meditative Eastern taste, suggesting minimal style and expansive space. A soapstone soaking tub waits with views of the property and the spectacular verdancy of the Hawaiian landscape. The house and grounds champion the intersection of dwelling and natural kingdom. A peaceful retreat indeed. The property is poised on a .64 acre lot overlooking the Pacific, and privately situated within the Four Seasons Hualalai resort.

Joseph Lacob has been a successful venture capitalist for over 30 years. A lover of basketball, he led a group of investors to purchase the Golden State Warriors in 2010, becoming the figurehead of the team after they became NBA champions in 2015, and record-breakers last season.
