Outfielder Jason Heyward is marketing his 7,777 square foot Atlanta home for $3.25 million; the 7-bedroom home features 7.5 baths and 7 fireplaces. Superstitious, perhaps. But certainly uncannily prescient: it was apparently Heyward’s inspirational speech that helped bring his current team, the Chicago Cubs, a World Series win in game 7 earlier this year.
The 2014 house is contemporary arts-and-crafts style, with a take-no-prisoners approach to luxury construction: the long list of interior amenities includes custom wide-plank floors; custom stonework; massive master suite with correspondingly impressive master bath and custom closets; kitchen with cutting edge Thermador appliances and Carrera marble countertops and tiled walls; exercise room; media room; billiards room; enclosed patio with kitchenette, and elevator. Color schemes are stone and earth tones, with lots of browns and greys, brick and natural tile. The splashes of crimson and carmine which grace exercise and billiards rooms, respectively, are the only dashes of drama in an otherwise extremely understated interior.
A terrace and two screened porches look out across the lush backyard, which features a pond with waterfall, and meticulous landscaping. An open, circular patio with fire pit is elevated above the grounds.
Jason Heyward was drafted in 2007 as a top prospect for the Atlanta Braves. A power hitter with multiple field talents, J-Hey was widely considered the top prospect of the sport—period—going into the 2010 season. He took home the Golden Glove Award for right fielders in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, and was Wilson Sporting Goods Defensive Player of the Year in 2014. After a year with the St. Louis Cardinals, Heyward joined the Chicago Cubs in 2016; his eight-year contract remunerates at $184 million.
