Italian motorcycle king Ducati has launched powerful and awe-inspiring superbikes with its newest Monster series additions.
The popular Monster line now also features a fresh take on Ducati’s starter-level bikes: the Monster 797. This replaces the outgoing 796 model as a more cost-effective and easier-to-ride version of the superpowered Monster model.
Ducati’s Monster 797 comes with the same air-cooled Desmodue twin engine as its Scrambler model, which makes 75 horsepower and 50 pound-feet of torque. The difference is in the design, which is on display thanks to a one-piece trellis frame, a large tank, and an eye-catching front headlight.
Pricing for the Ducati Monster 797 begins at $9,295.
Ducati also revealed its new Monster 1200 and 1200S models that are quite a bit more powerful than the 797.
Powering the 1200 and 1200S is the same Testastretta DS engine that boasts a redesigned exhaust and throttle system. This beast makes 150 ponies and 93 pound-feet of torque, doubling the power of the entry-level bike.
Making the 1200S special are rear and front shocks from Ohlins. The regular 1200 sits on a more standard Kayaba fork and Sachs rear shock.
Both models come equipped with Ducati’s full Safety Package, which includes cornering anti-lock brakes, wheelie control, and traction control. Both the 1200 and 1200S will fall below the 1200R in the Monster pecking order.
The Monster 1200 starts at $14,695, while the 1200S begins at $16,995.
