NAPKIN and Pininfarina Design have joined forces to create the new Forever Pininfarina AERO, a beautiful pen that never needs an ink refill.
To display how the AERO was created, a 5:1 scale replica of the stylus was shown off at the premier of the product. Part pen, part spacecraft, the AERO boasts a body with an interior crafted with an aerospace aluminum called Ergal and a tip that is made out of Ethergraf.
Ethergraf is a graphite ink-free metal alloy that NAPKIN created. AERO rests on a concrete base made by Crea Cemento in Brescia. Other artisans were sourced to help make the never-ending pen, including Mecom for the mold and Nuovi Gioielli for the creation of the blend for the tip.
The Forever Pininfarina AERO is available for purchase from NAPKIN, Pininfarina, or other shops worldwide for about $130.
So why is it considered a pen? Isn’t it really a pencil? The AERO is more pen than pencil because Ethergraf cannot be erased.
