Uma Thurman has sold her Gramercy Park apartment for $6.6 million. She was asking six and a quarter. She did well. The three-unit combo, for which she paid $4.2 million over two transactions in 2006 and 2012, spent six months on the market.

The 2,800 square-foot duplex features five bedrooms and 3.5 baths, and boasts a cohesive sense of individuality. The main level is fairly open-concept, with living and dining areas flowing easily into one another; a terrace is accessible from French windows and a single door, offering views of the park below. The floors are herringbone oak, and there is a neoclassical fireplace. The kitchen features lacquered cabinetry, marble countertops, and a walnut-capped peninsula. The first of two master bedrooms is on the main level, with dressing room and master bath, as well as a guest bedroom. There is a library nestled between.

The upper level contains the second master suite—complete with separate tiled shower and sauna room—as well as the other two guest bedrooms, which are connected by a charming, brick-tiled Jack-‘n’Jill bath. Both levels eschew darkness and shadow, with lots of reflective white capitalizing on available light.

Uma Thurman dropped out of Northfield Mount Herman to develop her extraordinary acting gifts, and all but stormed Hollywood as a teen-ager, appearing in four films in 1988.  By the time she was nineteen, she had lent her brightly sensitive sangfroid to the films of arthouse heavyweights Stephen Frears and Terry Gilliam.  Her thirty-year career has included work with Woody Allen and Quentin Tarantino, as well as more mainstream efforts.
