The new Orbi Prime recording sunglasses somewhat follow what big companies have tried to do with products like Google Glass and Blincam, but instead of going overboard with features, the Indiegogo startup has placed the emphasis on recording functionality rather than blink controls.
Acting more like a GoPro than a Google Glass, the Orbi Prime glasses features a pair of buttons and a companion app to control the camera glasses that capture 360-degree footage.
Four HD cameras and automatic stitching software give the Orbi Prime the ability to compose 4K video, 30 fps quality video. With built-in Wi-Fi, the glasses can link to the Orbi app for editing and sharing, while all of the actual content is safely stored on a Micro SD card.
Charging the glasses is a breeze thanks to a Micro USB cord, with each charge lasting about 90 minutes. The glasses come with a detachable rear strap for action moments. They are splash proof.
The Orbi Prime Indiegogo crowd funding campaign reached half of its $75,000 in only two days and is currently over two-thirds of the way completed with about a month left to get involved. Current Exclusive Early Bird specials offer the Orbi Prime sunglasses for $329, with the retail price of the product expected to be over $650.
