Musician Richard Marx has listed his expansive mansion on Lake Michigan for just shy of $12 million.
Measuring in at 29,745 square feet, the 1931-built, David Adler-designed home looks like it is meant to be found in the French countryside, with an aesthetic seemingly from the gilded age. Sitting on about five acres, the manse holds seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and six half baths.
Other amenities of the home that was originally created for a meatpacking heir include a recording studio, a gym, a movie theater, a giant kitchen, and lavishly decorated formal dining and living rooms. Outside, the spacious grounds offer stunning views of Lake Michigan, an outdoor seating area with a fire pit, and plenty of space to build anything from a guest house to a pool and much more.
The mansion was outdated in both functionality and style when Marx and his then-wife, Cynthia Rhodes, purchased the property in the early 1990s. They spent two years renovating and remodeling the home to modernize and restore it to its past glory.
Marx originally listed the house in 2013 for $18 million when he and Rhodes split. The “Now and Forever” singer slashed the price over $6 million to its current price of $11.99 million in hopes of selling the estate.
