Co-founder of Microsoft, billionaire Paul Allen, is set to add quite a few millions to his bank account with the upcoming sale of his Gerhard Richter painting, which will be auctioned off by Phillips on November 16 in New York.
The Richter piece depicting a jet fighter is dubbed Dusenjager and is expected to earn anywhere from $25 to $35 million.
Dusenjager was painted by Richter in 1963 and is one of a set of eight photo-based paintings of World War II-era aircraft done by the German artist.
The piece will head up the offerings made by Phillips at its Park Avenue sales room in a sale of modern and 20th-century art on November 16. Dusenjager last sold for $11.2 million when it was auctioned off by Christie’s in New York back in 2007.
While the spokeswoman for Allen and the spokesman for Phillips have both declined to confirm that the Seattle Seahawks owner is indeed the owner of Dusenjager, multiple people have identified him as the seller.
