Entrepreneur Kyle Vogt scooped up the most expensive home in San Francisco last month for $21.8 million.
The San Fran home sits on a beautiful hillside in the Pacific Heights neighborhood and offers views overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The 9,095-square-foot mansion was built in 1901 and boasts a Beaux Arts façade that includes neoclassical architectural carvings, intricate metal work on the balconies, and stunning columns.
Inside, the massive seven-bedroom, seven-bath house features recent renovations in a modern minimalist aesthetic. Outside, there is a spa with an infinity edge pool, an indoor steam room, and a fire pit.
The manse also comes with its own history. It was built by well-off San Francisco fish packer James Madison and later served as housing for soldiers wounded in World War II. It was later turned into apartments before being converted back into one home.
The former Madison home was listed for $28 million in 2015 before the price was slashed by $3 million and eventually sold for about $6 million less than its initial asking price.
Vogt made his fortune selling a pair of companies in two separate billion-dollar exits in the past couple of years. The 30-year-old sold video-streaming platform Twitch to Amazon. He later founded an automated driving startup called Cruise, which he sold to General Motors.
