Singer-songwriter John Legend and his supermodel wife Chrissy Teigen recently took care of some old business, selling their one-bedroom loft in Manhattan for a reported $3.9 million. Earlier this year, the super-couple bought a $14.1 million five-bedroom in Beverly Hills.

The apartment in the Nolita neighborhood of Manhattan is adorned chicly with reclaimed woods, exposed brick, iron columns and other industrial appurtenances, with the open plan living area divided into two discrete living areas—one of which had plenty of room for Legend’s grand piano. Between a corner breakfast nook that seats seven and a center island with bar seating for four (above smartly tucked bookshelves), the downtown loft has no need for a separate formal dining area, and the kitchen comes with elegant imported cabinets against a one-of-a-kind backsplash.

Sparkling wallpaper and a reclaimed wood accent wall give the bedroom a feeling of luxury that’s well within the industrial context and the bathroom includes a green marble sink fixture, herringbone tile and a large soaking tub.

The need for the expanded digs in L.A. likely had something to do with the Legend-Teigens’ growing family. The couple welcomed a baby girl, Luna Simone Stephens back in April.

Legend is also set to release a new album later this year.
