While photos, books, and music have been digitized and are often accessed from the cloud or some other storage, many users miss the actual feel of a page, picture, or photo album in their hands.
Now Joy has been created to help offer that old feeling again. Even though Joy looks like a tablet, it’s completely dedicated to displaying photos. With a 13.3-inch HD touchscreen, the tablet runs on an Android-based proprietary operating system.
When not being held to share prized images, Joy sits on a wireless charger and acts as a digital photo frame. Taking images, GIFs, and videos from a camera gallery, Joy is able to display specially curated albums complete with text and descriptions.
Joy boasts five hours of battery life, and images are automatically backed up to the device’s cloud, with 10GB of space included and more storage options available. The new device can be preordered for $500 and is set to ship in the summer of 2017.
