Paul Rust, who plays lead character Gus Cruikshank on the Judd Apatow-produced Netflix series Love, has a new home. Rust and wife Lesley Arfin, the Girls-trained writer-producer who co-created Love with him, paid $2.2 million for the gated, Los Feliz property.
Built in 1935 with designs by Wallace Neff—one of the pioneers of the “California” architectural style—the home invokes Georgian and Colonial influences. Entered through a fountain-equipped and hedge-lined courtyard, it includes 3,200 square feet of interior space with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths.
Period details like a wrought-iron porch door beneath a Federalist pediment, bay windows, original molding and hardware throughout give the home a perfectly charming feel. The home’s library comes fitted with mahogany panels for a lavish yet cozy vibe, while rustic details like wood mantles, wrought-iron stair rails, herringbone tile and hardwood floors make for extremely livable spaces.
Among the living spaces are a breakfast nook, formal living and dining rooms with bay window views of the grounds, a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and barn white cabinetry, a master suite that includes a marble shower and clawfoot bathtub.
Outdoors, a flagstone patio takes in the swimming pool and spa, while fruit trees and covered seating make the backyard a perfect country escape in the middle of Los Angeles.
