Christopher Pia, a former portfolio manager at Moore Capital Management before moving on to his own firm, Pia Capital Management, is looking to make a trade: $17.95 million for his West Village townhouse.
The Federal-style home is being listed for more than double the $8.56 million Pia paid for it in 2012 due to the $5 million he and wife Mary spent renovating the interiors and restoring the façade. The black-accented brick front now has a slightly contemporary air, with high arches dominating the street level.
With four bedrooms spread across 4,500 square feet of space, the home is one of the 13 properties with access to the privately run Bleecker Gardens, a landscaped park as notable for its exclusivity as it is for its peaceful European charm.
An uber-contemporary kitchen is all clean line and stainless appliance with tastefully classic chandeliers connecting the space to the formal dining area—with seating for 12—adjacent. A skylit living room boasts a trio of arched French doors while heavy wood beams give a large recreation room—split into a billiards area and a media center—a modern cabin feel.
Other amenities include an indoor basketball court, a gold-accented marble bathroom with frameless shower and soaking tub and a rooftop deck with a second basketball hoop.
