Porsche’s 911 has been one of the most successful models since it joined various racing circuits around the world thanks to the German brand adding the quick and agile sports car to any lineup it can.
Now, the company has named its 911 GT3 Cup racing model the most produced race car of its size range, with 3,031 examples produced since it came out in 1998, and they’ve decided to reveal an improved version of the cup racer at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The GT3 Cup is made to accommodate a broad level of skill ranges, so it is common in lower-level race series and a favorite amongst both amateur and professional drivers. It will feature in the Mobil 1 Supercup, the Porsche Carrera Cup in Germany, and in more than one racing series in North America.
Porsche gave the racing 911 a larger engine bay and packed it with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine that makes 485 horsepower—25 more ponies than the outgoing GT3 Cup. The model was also given a new front fascia and rear end, both of which add to the downforce of the Cup.
Remaining on the model is the oversized rear spoiler, the 18-inch center-lock racing wheels, and special Michelin tires.
Of course, since it is a racing model, the GT3 Cup’s interior emphasizes safety and doesn’t come with the luxurious goodies of a road-worthy 911. The Cup comes with a full roll cage and a racing seat.
Porsche’s new GT3 Cup is available to order with a starting price of $213,000.
