Jessica Chastain, the Oscar-nominated actress known for her roles in Mama, The Martian and The Help recently completed the sale of her pre-war apartment in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York. Chastain reportedly originally considered offering the home as a rental for $11,500 a month, but eventually settled on selling—a move that looks to have paid off, as the $1.9 million she earned is a $100,000 leap above her asking price and $700,000 more than she reportedly paid for the apartment when she bought it back in 2012.

With appurtenances like a snazzily curved staircase, a chic tan fireplace, light wood cabinets and a super-hip chandelier above the dining nook, the apartment barely shows its age at all. Calming paint jobs in matte white and light blue give the master suite a peaceful farmhouse mystique, while mirrored cabinetry, heated floors and a large steel soaking tub in the bathroom provide all the contemporary comfort one might need. Stainless appliances in the kitchen play delightfully off of the heritage-y butcher block-topped center island and subtly patterned white oak floors offer some ever-so-slightly shifting continuity throughout.

Chastain and boyfriend Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo completed the purchase of a $5.1 million co-op once owned by theater composer Leonard Bernstein just across the street from Carnegie Hall back in March.
