Sony has come out with an upgraded version of its range-topping A6300 APS-C mirrorless camera with the release of the new A6500, built using the same 24-megapixel sensor as its predecessor.
Some of the upgrades the A6500 gains over its slightly older sibling include a five-axis sensor-shift image stabilization, a larger image buffer, and a faster processor.
While the A6500 does provide the same continuous shooting rate as the A6300—11 frames per second—it can now shoot 300 JPEG images in one burst, or 100 RAW shots thanks to the quicker processor and bigger buffer. These are important figures for photographers looking to nab pristine action shots.
A couple of other upgrades from the A6300 on the new A6500 include the option to track focus using the LCD screen and the new video-specific Slow and Quick modes, offering the ability to slow or boost recording speeds from one FPS to 120 FPS in Full HD.
