The droptop model of Ferrari’s LaFerrari hybrid finally made its debut at the recent 2016 Paris Motor Show after first being announced this past July.
The convertible LaFerrari is essentially the same as the coupe edition, with only a few changes made to the design to allow for the removable roof.
The supercar is known as the LaFerrari Aperta. The roof is a soft top, but there is a carbon-fiber hard top version that is optional. The LaFerrari’s engineers reinforced the chassis and tweaked the cooling system to account for the loss of the roof.
Powering the LaFerrari Aperta is the same 6.3-liter V12 engine paired with an electric motor. The supercar boasts an amazing 949 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque—same as the coupe. The Aperta rockets from stop to 62 mph in less than three seconds and tops out at 217 mph, also the same as the original coupe.
Ferrari plans to make 200 examples of the LaFerrari Aperta, with some of them set to be part of the iconic Italian brand’s 70th-anniversary celebration.
