John Cusack’s gorgeous beachfront home in Malibu has a new owner this week. The High Fidelity and Say Anything star received $10.3 million in a sale that came just prior to the start of shooting for his newest movie, Misfortune.
The Spanish-style house was originally listed for $13.5 million earlier this year, with a lease option at $75,000 a month. Built in 1975, the 4,660-square-foot home includes all the privacy of a gated community and gorgeous views of the Pacific through window-laden Western walls.
Colored beams and iron chandeliers span the living area’s soaring ceilings, and the home also comes with three bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, an oversized kitchen, a home office, a dry sauna, a two-car garage and a gym.
Cusack made his name in teen comedies in the ‘80s like Sixteen Candles, Better Off Dead, Stand by Me and the aforementioned Say Anything, in which he plays the love-struck Lloyd Dobbler—one of the most iconic film roles in cinema history.
Since then, Cusack’s been particularly prolific, with 81 acting credits and writing and production credits for a couple of films in which he’s starred, including Grosse Pointe Blank and War, Inc.
In addition to his bountiful film career, Cusack is a sixth degree blackbelt in Ukidokan kickboxing, an outspoken progressive activist and a practitioner of transcendental meditation.
