Chris Evert may be $6 million richer soon. The former World No. 1 women’s tennis player whose 89.96 winning percentage still stands as the highest among both men and women in the Open Era recently listed her gated Florida property for $5.995 million.
Located past a circular brick drive in the Horseshoe Acres community of Boca Raton, the 12,300-square-foot Spanish-style compound sits on over five acres of lush lawns and includes two guest houses as well as a nine-car garage.
Guests approach the 22-year-old single-story main home through a pergola featuring vine-draped columns and are greeted by an entry with wooden tray ceilings, ornately bordered walls and a seating area, past which French doors open to the house’s ample backyard.
Wooden columns delineate the hall from the enormous formal living room, which is headed up by a carved fireplace, while the beamed ceilings match the hardwood of the floor. In the kitchen, an oversized center island is joined by stainless appliances, a vaulted ceiling and Saltillo tile floors for a classical Spanish-meets-contemporary cookspace vision. Other living areas include a home office, a gym, a family room, a media/game room, formal and informal dining rooms and a covered back patio that stretches the length of the house’s backside.
Lest we forget the outdoors: the property also comes with a putting green, a tennis court (of course), and a swimming pool surrounded by tall palm trees.
