At the behest of security-conscious customers, Mercedes-Maybach is coming out with an armored edition of its S600 Pullman limousine, dubbed the S600 Pullman Guard.
The exterior of the armor-plated version looks identical to the original S600 Pullman, with Mercedes-Maybach fitting the bulletproof model with special steel tucked in between the body structure and the visible metal, panels, and underbody armor plates to create maximum ballistic projectile protection.
The bulletproof glass of the windows is also coated in polycarbonate to ensure riders aren’t blanketed with splinters should the S600 Pullman Guard’s windows be assaulted.
Mercedes-Maybach’s extreme attention to detail means the limo is more like a weaponless tank than a car. It meets the highest ballistic protection ratings in the VR9 class, meaning it can withstand a wide variety of automatic military weapons, hand grenades, and gun shots.
The rear compartment of the armored limo can comfortably seat four people and is fully customizable down to every stitch and button.
Powering the S600 Pullman Guard is a twin-turbocharged, 6.0-liter V12 that delivers 530 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque at a super-low 1,900 rpm. The speed is electronically limited to 100 mph.
Mercedes-Maybach’s S600 Pullman Guard is currently on sale, with prices starting at $1.5 million and deliveries beginning in the second half of 2017.
