For $50 million, a gorgeous waterfront contemporary in Miami known as Casa Bahia could be yours. The 20,000-square-foot masterpiece of tropical contemporary architecture in Coconut Grove is currently owned by interior designer Catalina Echavarria. She purchased the one-acre property about a decade ago, but just had the home built recently.

The sale will include furnishings and accents designed and assembled by Echavarria. She also owns a home in Bali and prefers to spend her time traveling than to stay too long in one place. Oh to be an artist.

The house was designed by Echavarria’s son, Alejandro Landes—a 37-year-old Colombian-Ecuadorian factotum whose artistic undertakings include as a film director, producer, screenwriter, and journalist—with the help of Zyscovich Architects.

Landes told Wallpaper recently that ‘the idea of the house is a raw, exposed concrete frame, and inside you have a skin, which is teak, glass and white stucco, and these big spans of balconies.” Guests enter the engineering miracle by way of a floating staircase above a rectangular moat.

Wraparound terraces and a roof deck offer indoor/outdoor living possibilities as well as gorgeous views of Biscayne Bay to the home’s East. Other amenities include an infinity swimming pool, a steam room, a home theater, a private dock, a wine room and an eight-car garage.

A winner of an Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award, even with its exorbitant asking price, we suspect this home is not long for the market.
