Miami Beach may have a reputation for being easy come easy go, but when Weezy comes, it’s not so easy to go. That was the word last week when rapper Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as Lil Wayne, again reduced the price on his La Gorce Island property. The 15,000-square-foot home now sits at $12 million—just a hair above the $11.6 million the artist paid for it in 2011, and down from an original ask of $18 million.
A series of “swatting” incidents—in which pranksters called SWAT teams to the home on false pretenses—may have been the final straw for Wayne.
In any case, with nine bedrooms including a two-story master suite, the waterfront contemporary is ripe for the picking. Other amenities include an in-home elevator, a three-bedroom guest house, walls of windows, a three-car garage, a soaring living room with multiple seating areas and space for a grand piano, and a glass-encased loft accessed by a winding floating staircase.
A rooftop skate park and 120 feet of water frontage make it the perfect playpen for the leisure-minded buyer.
Wayne has been sitting in financial limbo for a while, which could account for the fire-sale price. In January of last year, he filed suit against Birdman’s Cash Money Records alleging that the company owes him profits, advances and royalties totalling $51 million for his recordings with the label.
