MB&F has added to its collection of limited edition, posable table and desk clocks with its new Balthazar, a timekeeping cyborg that has split personalities and interior workings that display just what time it is.
Balthazar joins MB&F’s previous robotic movie-themed clocks. The original took the form of a Robot B-9 lookalike from the 1965 film “Lost in Space” and the next edition looked a lot like Johnny 5 from 1985’s “Short Circuit.” Balthazar draws its silver screen inspiration from the popular 1984 film “Terminator.”
While looking like an amiable enough cyborg on one side, when Balthazar’s torso is rotated the clock takes the form of a T-800: the futuristic robot from the “Terminator” film franchise.
MB&F teamed up with frequent partner L’Epée to make its new tabletop clock from more than 600 micro-engineered components. L’Epée is also responsible for the in-house designed and manufactured movement.
“Terminator” fans will have to cough up around $53,500 to get their hands on one of the 50 Balthazar clocks MB&F is set to produce.
