The car that was once the Fisker Karma has been reintroduced as the Karma Automotive Revero. The news was announced at a private event in Southern California.
Fisker Automotive produced just over 2,000 examples of the Karma after it wowed crowds at the 2008 North American International Motor show before founder Henrik Fisker was forced to close up shop due to financial constraints. It was a Chinese car company called the Wanxiang Group that brought back the company with a new name, thus Karma Automotive was born.
The Revero’s new hybrid drive system makes 403 horsepower and has a top speed of 125 mph. Karma Automotive’s debut vehicle makes the zero-to-60-mph sprint in just 5.4 seconds.
Karma also gave the Revero a new infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The impressive first offering from Karma has the ability to recharge up to 80 percent in just 24 minutes, and, when full, has a range of 300 miles (or 50 miles on solely electric power). The solar-paneled roof also helps a bit.
Even with its $130,000 asking price, the Revero received 80 pre-orders in the first 48 hours after word of its release broke.
