Porsche has continued its trend of steering its cars toward the electric market by adding a plug-in hybrid edition called the E-Hybrid.
The Panamera E-Hybrid’s hybrid powertrain is a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine paired with an electric motor powered by a 14.1 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack. The overall output measures in at 462 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
The hybrid drivetrain sends its power to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
An impressive note is that Porsche’s Panamera E-Hybrid can drive for 30 miles on its electric power alone at speeds of around 85 mph. It takes 5.8 hours to fully charge the E-Hybrid, but Porsche offers a quick charger with the ability to reduce the charging time to just 3.6 hours.
Porsche has also equipped the E-Hybrid with a dedicated app that lets its owner know when it is fully charged and switch on the A/C or heater remotely.
The Panamera E-Hybrid comes loaded with the German brand’s Sport Chrono package, so the E-Hybrid will feature six total driving modes, four hybrid ones, and the Sport and Sport Plus options.
Porsche will offer its 2017 Panamera E-Hybrid in European markets beginning in April, with the special model coming across the Atlantic a short time after its European release.
