Over Maserati’s long history, there have been six generations of the Quattroporte, the Italian carmaker’s four-door luxury sedan. For the 2017 model of the Quattroporte VI, Maserati has given it exterior and interior makeovers and two new trim levels: GranLusso and GranSport. They’ve also redesigned the car’s grille to better accentuate the shark-nose front end, which now includes five vertical chrome ribs that angle inward on either side of the trident emblem, giving the front a sharp and snarling look. The bumpers, spoiler, side skirts, and exterior mirrors are done up in matte black; with the GranLusso package, they match the body panels, while the GranSport’s body panels are glossy black.

Maserati has upgraded the car’s electronics and interior as well. There’s a new air-quality sensor that prevents polluted air from entering the cabin, and an 8.4-inch high-resolution touchscreen for controlling the information and entertainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GranLusso package has bespoke interiors of Italian Zegna silk, while the GranSport is a dynamic carbon fiber interior in a sporty red. They didn’t mess with everything, though—the new line of Quattroportes comes with a choice of three mighty engines that the race-bred car has made its name on in recent years: the 410 horsepower 3-liter Twin Turbo V6, the 530 hp 3.8 liter Twin Turbo V8 petrol units, and a potent 3-liter V6 turbo diesel that produces a solid 275 hp.
