Willow Smith’s star continues its rise as the youngest offspring of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith is the new face of Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2016/17 eyewear campaign. The stylishly stark campaign shots show that the 16-year-old multi-platform star—now shorn of her whip-my-hair-back-and-forth locks—has the visage for the task.
Smith is the latest young muse to join the house of Chanel, following in the footsteps of other star-children such as Lily-Rose Depp. It’s easy to see what creative director Karl Lagerfeld saw in the young starlet: bedecked in Chanel jewels and posing against a minimalist backdrop, Smith’s steely-cool vibe and radiant energy are reminiscent of another Chanel eyewear alum: Rihanna.
The eyeglasses in the Fall-Winter 2016/17 are split into three ready-to-wear themes: Vintage, Urban Chic and Chanel Coco Chain. The Vintage theme frameless sunglasses are perfect for the chic modern woman wishing to channel her inner Jackie O, while the Urban Chic line features butterfly and pantos shaped frames with mirrored lenses that hide your gaze. The acetate frames have scrolls of black ink showcasing a baroque matte metal double C. The Chanel Coco Chain frames, meanwhile, feature a dazzling metal chain with interlaced leather.
