Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin’s recently released Classico Schooner America timepiece pays homage to the world’s most recognized regatta, the America’s Cup, and to its nautical past.

The company’s partnership with Sweden’s Artemis Racing team will continue as they will attempt to win the 35th running of the America’s Cup in 2017.

The Classico Schooner America comes in either 18-karat white or rose gold with a dial that illustrates the gaff schooner America sailing to its inaugural victory for the New York Yacht Club in 1951.

The America is the namesake of the America’s Cup, for both the trophy and the name of the race after it won back in 1851. In the background of the dial is the Isle of Wright in England, of which the course was first completed.

This entire scene is finished by Ulysse Nardin’s own artisans in enamel cloisonné, which is a technique dating back to the Byzantine Empire. Doing this for each dial takes 50 hours and a total of 26 steps to complete.

Ulysse Nardin will only manufacture 30 examples of the Classico Schooner America, with each timepiece priced at $39,800.
