From the Plaza to the Waldorf Astoria to the Jane, New York City doesn’t lack for luxury hotels. It’s hard to stand out in such a renowned and saturated market, which makes Maramara Park Avenue all the more notable. Ismael Leyva Architects, the firm behind the hotel, and lead interior designer Joe Ginsberg have created a palatial hotel that, well, doesn’t feel like a hotel at all. Rather, the studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and penthouse options all feel like your own private Park Avenue apartment.
To be sure, guests at the Maramara have all of the glamour and amenities of a high-class New York City hotel. There’s a posh, relaxing spa that feels airlifted straight from the Mediterranean and an opulent lobby with a stunning arched vestibule made of 670 pieces of faceted steel centered over a large bronze door. It’s one of many artistic pieces that were custom-designed for the hotel by local artisans, including designer Ginsberg himself.
The spa, which is located in the basement, has traditional white marble Turkish hammams for luxurious baths. It’s fitting, as Maramara is a Turkey-based company with three hotels in Istanbul, one in Bodrum, and a fifth in Antalya. The Maramara Park Avenue is the company’s second New York hotel.
