David and Victoria Beckham have put their estate in Bargemon, France, up for sale for $2.7 million. “Beckingham Palace-sur-Mer” cost the British power couple around $2 million American when they purchased it in 2003, and despite extensive renovations to the tune of $6.6 million, they’ve decided to unload it after having only visited a handful of times.
Located near the Cote d’Azur in southern France, the 19th century home counts a state-of-the-art kitchen with stainless steel countertops and exposed wood beams and an oversized dining room with intricate sconce and chandelier lighting and a two-way fireplace among its amenities.
A lavish formal sitting room is done up in lavender and extends the open fireplace into a pair of arched, stone doorways, while an entryway with a coved ceiling and heavy wood adornments has a bedrock-gray paint job to go with a Doric ruin-themed wall sconce.
Also on the home’s first floor is a guest suite with three double bedrooms and a large bathroom featuring a soaking tub, a chandelier and moody purple and green walls. Two staircases lead to the second floor, where the master suite has a brighter theme: the chandelier pair matches the white walls and the ceiling includes a subtle mural of the sky and opens to the raised terrace, with access to the property’s opulent gardens.
Also outdoors is an enormous infinity swimming pool, a pool house, rolling meadows and dense woodland, plus a farm house converted into a guest home.
David’s been busy on this side of the pond this year, finally securing a spot in Miami to place his MLS expansion team’s stadium in March. Among his partners in the venture are Simon Fuller, the creator of the Idol franchise; Bolivian telecom impresario Marcelo Claure; and Tim Lieweke, the former president of the Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns the L.A.’s Kings, Lakers and Galaxy.
David’s net worth is estimated at over $350 million. But make no mistake—this is a marriage of equals: Former Spice Girl Victoria has a net worth estimated at $300 million. Both are in their early forties.
