A plug-in hybrid version of BMW’s popular 7 Series is finally set to hit sales floors in the United States over a year after the project was first announced.

The vehicle enters the market as the 2017 BMW 740e xDrive i Performance. The latter portion of the name helps to tie in the new 7 Series hybrid to the current i3 and i8 models from the German automaker.

The 740e blends a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor that is integrated with an eight-speed automatic transmission to send power to all four wheels, thus earning the xDrive moniker. This combined system makes 322 horsepower and 369-pound-feet of torque and earns a zero-to-60-mph split of 5.1 seconds. BMW says the 740e will have a limited speed of 155mph while it’s in hybrid mode.

The aforementioned electric motor is powered by a 9.2-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack that can be found under the seat to make sure it is protected in the event of an accident. The 740e can run solely off of this battery pack for about 15 miles at speeds up to 75 mph.

BMW’s 7-Series plug-in hybrid also boasts an EPA efficiency rating of 64 miles per gallon, which is a really high number for the larger sedan.

Pricing for the 207 BMW 740e xDrive i Performance will start at $90,095. It goes on sale later this month.
