GoPro introduced its six-camera Omni VR rig just four months ago, and now the tech company has launched the impressive kit with a $5,000 price tag.
Although a bit pricey for the average buyer, the Omni is ideal for pro filmmakers on a budget who still want to capture 360-degree video. The all-inclusive set includes an aluminum cube-shaped rig that’s fitted with six Hero4 Black action cameras. The cams offer 360-degree video at a resolution up to 8K.
Even though there are several cameras in play, GoPro keeps things simple thanks to the rig’s built-in synchronization technology, which allows users to easily and seamlessly operate the camera set, with the settings on one transferring automatically to the others, working as a single unit.
Once footage is captured, the Omni Importer creates an instant, low-res preview stitch so filmmakers can select certain sections for rendering. Users can also take advantage of Kolor’s Autopano Video Pro and Autopano Giga software for making detailed adjustments.
In all, the case includes the rig, six cameras and editing software, a GoPro Smart Remote for starting synchronized recording, six batteries, six Mini USB cables, and six 32GB MicroSD cards and card readers.
