Restoration Hardware CEO’s $10.5M Mansion Hits Market, Is Everything You’d Expect

Gary Friedman, the self-taught CEO of Restoration Hardware, is looking to sell his 5,140-square-foot house in the Napa Valley. As you might expect, it’s timelessly and gorgeously decorated. The moody, gray, concrete home was recently listed for $10.5 million.

Friedman purchased the home in 2013 for $5.9 million, planning to make it his primary residence before finding accommodations closer to the company’s forthcoming art, food and wine complex, RH Yountville.

Making the best of the situation, Friedman initiated a Restoration Hardware-led remodel on the St. Helena home. Everything from the planters to the wine included in the wine vaults comes from RH or its subsidiaries, and in a Wall Street Journal interview, Friedman hinted that this could be the first in a string of “RH Residences.”

Counting the 630-square-foot guest house, the property includes six bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. The open-plan living room, topped by a contemporary chandelier, features two side-by-side sitting areas and a sleek fireplace, with a trio of French doors opening to the yard.

Across a 12-seat dining room table sits the kitchen with the aforementioned wine vaults fitting 72 bottles each, marble countertops, a riveted range hood and a double-wide oven, perfect for entertaining large groups. One of the home’s garages has been turned into a veritable wellness center, with a yoga studio, an outdoor massage room and a home gym.

Among the other appurtenances are chic concrete planters lining the property, a gated front entrance and outdoor showers abutting four of the six bedrooms.
