Martin Campbell, the New Zealand-born director behind 2011’s Green Lantern, put his Pacific Palisades mansion on the market this week for $10.5 million. Campbell and wife Sol E. Romero, the Swiss-Mexican actress who can be seen in Campbell’s 2006 Casino Royale, bought the 10,600-square-foot home in 2010 for around $8 million.
Nestled in a guard-gated community, the distinguished Mediterranean, was first completed in 1991 before an extensive rebuild in 2010. The two-story foyer comes complete with wrought-iron French doors and a lantern-like chandelier and opens into an enormous formal living room that includes hardwood floors, a carved stone fireplace and coffered ceilings.
The well-appointed kitchen includes an antiqued center island with bar seating topped by a hand-forged iron light installation, as well as an eight-burner stove with a gorgeously ornate range hood. Off to the side, guests will find informal dining and sitting areas. There’s also a formal dining room with recessed lighting, a library with custom built-in shelving and a fireplace, a wine room, six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms plus a third-floor bonus room with vaulted ceilings
The oversized master suite has a fireplace, built-in shelves, a large private terrace accessible through French doors and a bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, while a guest suite includes its own kitchenette, balcony access and a bathroom with glass-encased shower.
The backyard is the perfect place for cookouts, with four separate ground-level seating areas connected to the upper patio by a spiral wrought-iron stair, a basketball hoop, an expansive lawn with a playground set, a raised fireplace and a grilling station with warming drawers, a sink and a beverage refrigerator.
