Tom Ford Asks $75M for Glorious Santa Fe Ranch

When multi-hyphenate tastemaker Tom Ford dropped $53 million on a Beverly Hills mansion in June, it seemed like a bold purchase, but if Ford gets anywhere near the asking price for his Santa Fe property, the Cerro Pelon Ranch, he’ll make a pretty penny on the whole move. Ford is asking $75 million for the New Mexico parcel, which will seem like a steal when you learn what the place has to offer.

With a fairly staggering 20,662 acres—or about 32 square miles—the property includes not only the original set from Lawrence Kasdin’s 1985 western Silverado, but also two pristinely designed contemporary compounds from Japanese critical regionalist architect Tadao Ando.

The sleek main residence floats on a peaceful reflecting pool and is connected to a state-of-the-art, 8-stall horse barn, complimented by indoor and an outdoor riding arenas.

Also included on the property are four separate staff quarters, two private guest homes, a ranch manager’s station with detached offices and a number of warehouses to organize ranch equipment.

The Silverado set pieces, essentially their own small town after having been converted from mere street facades into usable structures, are often leased for movie and television shows. They’ve been featured in movies like All the Pretty Horses; 3:10 to Yuma; Wild, Wild West; Cowboys and Aliens and many others.

And if you’re still not sold, the property also includes a tennis facility with (naturally) a clay court, as well as a private air strip and hangar, for when you just need to get away.
