Montblanc is known for its beautifully and intricately crafted writing utensils, so it’s no shock when the company comes out with another impressive pen.
The company’s new Meisterstück Ultra Black Special Edition pen takes its styling cues from a recent trend of all-black luxury watches and sports its own matte black look.
Gone is the traditional shiny black resin coating. In its place is a specially crafted resin that’s been sandblasted to create its unique matte surface. This look isn’t entirely new, as the style is reminiscent of the brand’s early ebonite pens.
Dedicated buyers of Montblanc writing utensils might be shocked by the absence of the telling shiny resin that’s a staple of the Meisterstück, but they can be assured that the quality is the same as expected.
The all-black look is used throughout, but users will enjoy a subtle glint from the ruthenium-coated fittings and the ruthenium-plated 14-karat gold nib, as well as the polished gripping section.
The Meisterstuck will be produced in a limited number and is available as a Classique fountain, a Le Grand, and as a new Midsize.
Available for $870, the Montblanc Meisterstuck Ultra Black fountain pen is part of Montblanc’s year-long celebration of 110 years of craftsmanship, and buyers can also opt for the company’s special new Ultra Black ink.
