Two-time American League batting champion Nomar Garciaparra and his wife, Olympic gold medalist Mia Hamm recently landed a $2.2 million home in Manhattan Beach, their second in the area.

The thoroughly articulated two-story includes a tan-shingled façade with overhanging eaves, a balcony perched atop the two-car garage and casement windows with a white trim. A formal entry opens to a sunken living room with vaulted ceilings and French doors letting in light from the front street.

Among the 4,450-square-foot home’s other amenities are an eat-in kitchen with shaker cabinets and an L-shaped center island with bar seating, a home office, a family room with built-in display shelves and a stone-faced fireplace, five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Records show that the home sold more than ten years ago for $2.7 million. This time around, it was originally listed at $2.599 million.

Garciaparra is best known for his time as the shortstop for the Boston Red Sox, for whom he played from 1996 to 2004. He also spent time on the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics. Since 2014, he has worked as a baseball analyst for SportsNet LA, the regional sports network jointly owned by Charter Communications and the Dodgers.

Hamm twice won Olympic gold—once in 1996 and again in 2004—as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. She was named FIFA’s World Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002, the first two years the prize was awarded. In 2013, she became the first woman inducted into the World Football Hall of Fame in Pachuca, Mexico.
