Uber has expanded its taxi program to include UberXL, UberSelect, and UberBLACK, which is the brand’s executive luxury car service. However, Uber competitor Blacklane is doing some expanding of its own after attracting more capital from German automotive corporation Daimler.
Those looking for a private ride can now find drivers at more locations. The Berlin-based startup offers black car, limousine, and private driver services around the world. The new round will help it take the service past the 50 countries and 200 cities it’s already operating in.
The vehicle lineup isn’t all Mercedes-Benz—it also includes Toyota Camrys, Honda Accords, and, of course, high-end options like the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8 vehicles.
Riders who use Blacklane won’t just enjoy nicer cars. They will experience far better service compared with a typical taxi, with each ride including complimentary wait times of 15 minutes for regular rides and 60 minutes for airport pickups.
The booked fare also includes costs for taxes, tools, fees, and tips so travelers don’t even need to carry cash or a credit card.
Blacklane was founded in 2011 and first attracted capital from Daimler in 2013.
