One of the fathers of heavy metal is looking to unload his Los Angeles home, and if you’re expecting doom and gloom, you’re in for a surprise. Terence Michael Joseph Butler—known to Black Sabbath fans as Geezer Butler, the band’s original bassist and lyricist—is asking $2,995,000 for his airy Beverly Hills Mediterranean.
Wrought iron railings and hardwood floors greet guests in the home’s two-story foyer, which takes in plenty of light through an arched window above the front door. A dividing wall with a built-in décor shelf separates a grand room from a formal dining area beneath the home’s second-level balcony/hallway.
In the grand room, you’ll find an asymmetrical contemporary stone fireplace, a number of built-in shelves and a windowed wall with a bar top that opens into a second dining area and the well-appointed kitchen, which includes stainless steel appliances and streamlined black countertops.
A formal living room includes picture and ceiling-height windows and a recessed television nook.
Among the five bedrooms is a master suite with a unique arched door, a sitting room, a fireplace, a triple-wide balcony overlooking the backyard and a large bathroom with separate steam shower and Jacuzzi tub.
Out back, the yard includes a kidney-shaped saltwater pool, a covered terrace and a large lawn, with a stone path leading to a second patio area. There’s also plenty of privacy, with a concrete back wall and two stories’ worth of privacy hedges
The home also includes a two-car garage, so the new owners will have plenty of space for band practice.
