Music and movie exec Jordan Schur is no stranger to highly profitable ventures. The label he founded in 1994, Flip Records, is one of the few record companies to have a musician sell over a million albums in a single week—a feat the label’s lineup accomplished multiple times. It was this business acumen that landed him the presidency of Geffen Records, where he went on to generate over $2 billion in sales, working with some of the most recognizable acts in the world, including Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Snoop Dogg, Beck and The Roots.
Given the Midas-like history, it should come as no surprise that he recently made a hefty sum on the Santa Monica villa he purchased in 2003 for $3.8 million. In an off-market deal, Schur unloaded the 6,800-square-foot property for $9 million, a $350,000 upgrade on the most recently published price of $8.65 million.
The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is modeled, according to marketing materials, on the houses of the Amalfi Coast, invoking “antique charm and Italian romanticism,” with much of the façade covered in ivy.
It includes stunning ocean and mountain views, a gated entry, a sunken living room and a number of tiled terraces. The oval-shaped formal dining area features terra-cotta flooring, while a soaring kitchen has a unique starburst of exposed wooden beams and an adjoining informal dining nook. A wood-burning fireplace distinguishes the family room, which opens via French doors to a courtyard with a kidney-shaped spa. Additional amenities include an enormous screening and game room, a home gym, a second kitchen, an office and a Tuscan-style loggia.
Schur currently serves as CEO of Mimran Schur Pictures, the independent film production company he founded in 2009 with partner David Mimran.
