New York Mets first baseman James Loney is looking to unload the San Diego area house he’s called home since 2013, listing the many-gabled Spanish-Mediterranean for $2.495 million.
The 6,000 square foot home reached by a winding driveway sits atop more than an acre of property in the Poway area of San Diego County and was designed and constructed in 2003 by Solana Beach custom home builders Greg Agee Homes. Its two stories include four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Contemporary chandeliers, thick white molding and wainscoting are some of the house’s highlights. A kitchen with stainless appliances and an enormous slab marble center island opens into a carpeted great room with a custom stone fireplace and a ceiling height window, with the ebony kitchen cabinetry playing off the great room’s painted wood beams.
In addition to bar seating in the kitchen and a breakfast nook, the home includes a formal dining area, as well as a library and a formal living room with fireplace and round top window.
The master suite features a custom closet and one more fireplace.
In the backyard, a 45-foot swimming pool with raised spa and waterfall are surrounded by a playground, a rock garden, palms and native tree species, while a pair of two-car garages poke out from the home’s southern side, which also includes a number of solar panels.
Loney, who turned 32 this year, was drafted 19th overall by the Dodgers in 2002. He’s batting .283 with 18 runs, 20 RBI and 5 home runs in 48 games this year with the Mets.
