French watch brands often still feature dials that read “Swiss Made.” However, Pequignet’s new Rue Royale GMT is especially unique because it’s truly and completely French made.

Pequignet is a small independent brand based out of Morteau, France, which is very, very close to Switzerland. So while it boasts a Fabriqué en France title, Pequignet also has the advantage of being particularly close to helpful Swiss neighbors.

Founded in 1973, Pequignet has been manufacturing its own “Calibre Royal” movements since 2011, all of which are designed, created, tested, and assembled at the brand’s Haute Horlogerie Pequignet workshop in Morteau.

The Rue Royal GMT comes with a 42mm stainless steel case that sports water resistance of almost 330 feet. This case is attached to a red, white, and blue nylon NATO strap that is of course made to honor the colors of the French flag.

Pequignet’s new Rue Royal GMT truly embodies France’s motto of liberté, égalité, and fraternité with a roughly $8,250 price tag.
