Mike Shanahan, who led the Denver Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowls in the late ‘90s before a less successful stint as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, is selling his over the top Englewood, Colorado mansion for $22 million.
Included in the 32,254-square-foot megamansion are a golf simulator, a racquetball court, a two-lane bowling alley, a conservatory, a seven-car garage with storage lift, a poker room and a private gym with locker room, sauna and steam shower. Other amenities include 11 fireplaces, two bridges, a number of fountains, a 65-foot pool, cigar room, wine grotto (not to be confused with the separate wine cellar, a children’s arcade/playroom and a guesthouse with two bedrooms and four baths.
The main house has six bedrooms and a staggering 13 bathrooms. An imported English atrium greets guests as they enter the home, flowing into a music room complete with grand piano and a formal dining room off to the sides. Intricate iron balconies, stained glass windows, opulent plasterwork, marble flooring and dark wood paneling are just some of the sophisticated accents you’ll find in the enormous estate.
And to keep the mini-village—whose guest bedrooms are modeled on Four Seasons suites—humming, the house includes roof-mounted solar panels and an HVAC system with 18 separate furnaces.
The home was designed by Sall Residential Design Group to the coach’s specifications and was completed in 2011.
